Overdue, Lost, Damaged, and Recalled Library Materials
How much are overdue fines for library material? Am I given a notice? What if I lost an item? What if it is damaged?
Answer
Overdue, Lost, Damaged
Library patrons with overdue materials will receive three email notifications. If the items are not returned in a timely manner, they are considered lost.
Lost item fees are charged to the patron’s Business Office account. If the item is returned after a charge has been issued, the library may issue a credit excluding a processing fee and nonrefundable fine.
Fees
- Books - $65 replacement charge
- Course Reserves - $5 per hour overdue fine
- Interlibrary Loans - Varies
- Videos - Varies
- Other materials – Varies
Borrowing privileges may be blocked if there are substantial unpaid or unresolved charges on a library user’s record.
Recalled Materials
An item you have borrowed may be recalled if needed for Course Reserves. We will contact you to return the item, and work to get you a different copy via Interlibrary Loan.
